BUSINESS CASE TRAINING

A NEW LECTURE-STYLE WEEKLY ACTIVITY IN COLLABORATION WITH PROFESSORS

Business Case Training, also known as BCT, started in Spring 2019. Aiming towards providing students a more in depth look into solving cases and competing, GBL is the bridge connecting students and professors in the case training community! BCT is held every semester, with sessions run by professors, previous participants, and special guests!

BCT has goals and details as follows:

Goals:

  • Ease of forming teams for competition
  • Further the skill sets of the student, such as presentation/speaking, fast thinking, problem solving, etc
  • Prepare students to participate in GBCC, CFA challenges, Hult prize, ICC, JBCC, MBA case camp, Oita Entrepreneurship, etc.
  • Improve student ability to present cases in class

Implementation:

Students are split between the beginning and advanced classes based on experience and knowledge of business cases/competition. Professors set the curriculum and conduct 1-2 classes a semester with the students. For the students, there are 2 option for classes, Monday and Tuesday class. Once they attend the class, the student needs to commit to one of the classes that they already chose. There will be a mini case solving session every 3rd Saturday of the month for students. It will be optional for professors, but we kindly ask professors to become judges.

Time Duration:.

  • Normal class session: (6 classes a semester per level)
  • Monday (6th period) 1st and 3rd week of the month or Tuesday (6th period) 2nd and 4th week of the month
  • Mini case solving day: one Saturday a month (optional to be a judge) with total 4 mini-case classes throughout a semester.
